Local Tiki Spots

Alibi Lounge

4024 N Interstate Ave, Portland, OR 97227, (503) 287-5335
The Scoop: The Tiki Lounge Highlight of Portland!

Yes, The Alibi Lounge is, presntly, the best Tiki Experience in Portland. A friendly staff, great menu - quite reasonably priced - and a good line-up of fun drinks guarantees the crew will have a swillin' good time here.

The Alibi has been suriving during the years of late as a Karaoke bar, and making quite the name doing so. They are hom eof some of the most competitive and spectacular Karaoke around, seven nights a week. Things get rolling there about 8pm, so if you and your crew want run of the place with the Tiki atmosphere, show up early and plan to jet around 7pm or so.

The interior decor of The Alibi is extensive, terrifically nautical and Pacific, and a terrific atmosphere. There is no doubt that you and your guests will be blown away by the giant black-light glowing wall sculpture of the dancing island hula girls!

This is a must-stop on the Tiki Tour. Come with a group of about 8 or more, and they'll give you the entire upper level for your party, cavorting, and skulldancery!

Jasmine Tree

401 SW Harrison, Portland OR
The Scoop: okay for drinks and meeting some friendly folks. The Jasmine Tree is a chinese food resturaunt with a Tiki-theme back room. Some good stuff but in poor repair.

They do offer live music and are quite close to the PSU downtown. I asked the owners about setting aside an evening a month for lounge music, and they quickly and flatly refused. "Live bands only," they said. Obviously, these guys are not up on the Tiki scene - none of their live bands are lounge, they are more modern underground. Fine for the college crowd, but missing an entire group (us!) and just tossing aside the decor's main mood.

This would be a prime hangout for the PDX Tiki club. When you go in, be sure to ask if they have lounge music nights. If they get asked enough times, maybe we'll get them thinking twice!s
